1) How can virtual reality make onboarding in a company more engaging compared to traditional methods?
In the corporate world, I can say VR really changes everything. Instead of sitting in a room looking at slides or videos, I found myself inside a headset exploring spaces and situations that felt real. It didn’t feel like “training” in the traditional sense. I was doing things (like walking through the office, move objects, interacting with a chatbot). It made me feel active rather than passive. I wasn’t just told about procedures, I experienced them, and that helped me gain confidence much faster in this environment. Honestly, it made me less anxious too. Knowing I could make mistakes in a safe space and then try again without judgment gave me a huge sense of relief. Nobody knew what I was doing.
2) What advantages does VR offer in helping new hires understand corporate culture and core values?
For me, company culture is something quite abstract if it’s just written down on a webpage. In VR, I could live it. I was faced with choices, like how to handle a bad situation. I could see the consequences of my decisions right away, which made the company’s values feel much more real. It wasn’t just about understanding words on a wall, it was about feeling the culture in action.
3) How can VR improve safety and knowledge retention for new employees?
I’ve never worked in a company before, so I was a bit nervous about remembering everything, especially safety rules (something new for me).
With VR, though, it’s not about memorising a manual. It’s about living through situations: spotting risks, reacting to emergencies, or practising the right steps. The moment I “messed up” in VR and then corrected myself, that stuck in my head way more than if I had just read it. It’s like my brain stored the lesson differently because it was linked to an experience, not just information. And I liked knowing that I could repeat the scenarios as many times as I needed, without feeling rushed or compared to others.
4) What added value does VR bring in creating empathy and a sense of belonging for new employees?
Let’s be honest: it’s really exciting! Using VR in my iphotetical first day made me feel like the company truly invests in innovation and cares about how new people feel when they join. That made me proud to be part of it, right from the start.
5) How can VR support a more inclusive, accessible, and scalable onboarding process?
With VR, I could step into someone else’s world, it also gave me access to places I probably wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise (like different areas or international offices. That could give me a broader view of the company as a whole).
And the fact that the VR experiences were available both with a headset and on a computer made everything easier. Even if someone doesn’t have the latest tech, they can still be part of it. It felt fair and accessible to everyone.
